Seat belts on aisle seats

1 Notification to operators

1.1 Aircraft > 5,700 kg.

Operators of large aircraft, engaged in passenger transport, shall ensure that seat belts on aisle passengers seats are installed in such a way that the buckle is not placed on the aisle side.

Studies have shown that the belts together with the buckle can delay emergency evacuation when they dangle from the side of the seat.
The legs of passengers could then become entangled in the belts if the buckle swings around them.
